Our looped strings are of a length largely sufficient for the main playing of a large two-manual harpsichord of historical manufacture: 1.40 meters to 2.40 meters depending on the diameter of the string; this diameter is measured in hundredths of a millimeter (1 millimeter equals 100 hundredths!).
Around the 60s, the first harpsichords of the "kit" period were strung with spring quality string, from modern wire drawing.
